A tranquil morning gaze

no comments

A cold wet mix of ice is pelting the skylight falling from the morning grey sky.  Winter brown grass dots last nights dusting of snow, as a couple doves peck at sprinkled crushed corn on the ground. Roosted on bare lilac branches a family of cardinal’s brilliant red plumage pulse puffed-up against the arctic winter air.

With both hands wrapped around a hot cup of coffee I take a moment to appreciate the simple details of the beauty and joy my backyard friends bring each day outside the studio window. Today temp– high 20s tonight dropping down to 5. That’s cold beyond cold it’s freezing. Stay well my friend!

I wish for you…

Life becomes newly fresh as the New Year unfurls taking root at our doorstep cleansing our souls with a sense of perky nourishment, like a newfound energy, tulip blooms bring in the spring. It is a time to reflect on this past year. As we walk into 2012 with pristine footsteps a clear mind ready to conquer the goals we’ve set for ourselves (no pressure or disappointment here) and everything else that surrounds us in daily life, or maybe capture that one magical word or theme to carry close and become more mindful of through out the year.

On June 10, 2008, my life had transformed forever and today I gratefully accept that time as a blessed gift.

Kris of Crazy Sexy Life posted an article, 10 Things I Learned from People Who Survive Cancer” written by, Lissa Rankin MD. The article carries a powerful message that resonates a reminder of how life can often be unfair, cut short in a fleeting glimpse, and not be a waste.

I don’t make resolutions any more (though I am working on #8 #10 mentioned in the above article), I choose to live simple be present, open my eyes and heart wide, and walk softly in peace with what is in the moment in 2012!

I wish for you a blessed new year  filled with much love, health and happiness!

Stay well my friend!

Stand in your light and know you are enough

I find it hard to believe a week ago I was freezing my bottom off the weather has changed dramatically. Mother nature has been quite kind these last few days it’s been simply glorious, with warm sunny sky, big pure white puffy clouds and temperature in the high 60’s. A perfect autumnal day to amble peacefully alone, breathing deeply into the moment with only the sound of leaves crunching beneath your feet. I wish for you too, a day filled with love light and joy, stay well my friend.

Tricked on Halloween

Halloween weekend I dropped the Architect off at the airport for an 8am flight to Chicago where he’d spend a few days with family. I stayed behind at home where I had planned a couple of days of quiet me time moments, until 9pm when 3″ of heavy wet snow/ice mix laid upon the still leafy tree limbs snapped in the wind crashing to the ground knocking the power out for the following 6 days. The next morning I was on the phone with the Architect following his direction on how to connect the furnace to the generator when the furnace began to smoke frying the furnace motherboard. Apparently, I lack skills in the electrical field.

Although, I did manage to connect an electrical outlet strip to plug-in a lamp, space heater, cell charger and laptop. Hung sheets and blankets across two beams in the living room to hold in the heat, and slept on the couch under a mound of blankets with my dogs. We were warm, happy, and cozy. I loved the simplicity of the bare essentials retreating for the 3 days. The quiet coziness, the stillness in laid back moments. Just being alone with my thoughts, reading the kindle, writing and journaling.

In the early morning of the fourth day of power outage the enemy force arrived at the doorstep once again. Yep, the ole generator crapped out!
