Halloween weekend I dropped the Architect off at the airport for an 8am flight to Chicago where he’d spend a few days with family. I stayed behind at home where I had planned a couple of days of quiet me time moments, until 9pm when 3″ of heavy wet snow/ice mix laid upon the still leafy tree limbs snapped in the wind crashing to the ground knocking the power out for the following 6 days. The next morning I was on the phone with the Architect following his direction on how to connect the furnace to the generator when the furnace began to smoke frying the furnace motherboard. Apparently, I lack skills in the electrical field.
Although, I did manage to connect an electrical outlet strip to plug-in a lamp, space heater, cell charger and laptop. Hung sheets and blankets across two beams in the living room to hold in the heat, and slept on the couch under a mound of blankets with my dogs. We were warm, happy, and cozy. I loved the simplicity of the bare essentials retreating for the 3 days. The quiet coziness, the stillness in laid back moments. Just being alone with my thoughts, reading the kindle, writing and journaling.
In the early morning of the fourth day of power outage the enemy force arrived at the doorstep once again. Yep, the ole generator crapped out!
Trick or Treat?

Love is waking in the morning to find your love has placed a cup of hot coffee on your desk next to a leaf that made him think of you. It’s the simple little things,“the just because,” that make me smile and put life in perspective.
Stay well my friend!
