“A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself”
-Abraham Maslow

Today I thought I’d share my little corner of the world where I can be found just about 16hrs a day. Here in this 12′ x12′ home studio I share with the Architect set up behind me in the adjacent corner of the room. We both face in opposite directions yet we’re close enough to throw sharp objects when one becomes annoying. **note: I haven’t hurt him yet!**
The studio renders a peacefully calming atmosphere, a space where I am ultimately happiest and at peace. Today beads of late autumn rain tap on the skylight above streaming into tiny rivers. The only warmth of sunshine are my dogs,Chachi, Molly, and Skip, who together light up every second of the day cuddled together on a round plaid pillow their sheltered welcome mat, in itself their oasis.

Stay well my friend.

Once we set the clocks back an hour in time, in all its cold and darkness doesn’t life really seem to fly? What we really need is to add an hour or two to our day. From now through the Holidays on to the new calendar year the time just zips by in all the busyness.
On that note it’s time to layout the 2011 calendar year, so over the weekend I finished the design of these 12 unbound calendar months size 4.6” x 5” with a 21/2” x 41/2” fine art nature photography.

All 12 months are placed in a jewel case, which is used as a display stand. It was a fun project I composed in Adobe Illustrator. I was quite pleased with the final piece, and listed the calendar in my Etsy shop.

Stay well my friend and have a blessed week!

I choose a bright sunny photograph to work with that I captured this past summer at a local fair grange exhibit.

Opened another photograph of a field of wildflowers and earthy undergrowth for interesting texture. Converted the photograph to black & white and applied the sharpening filter to bring out more texture. This photograph is the background layer.
I then made a new layer by dragging the top photograph of yellow flowers onto the background layer of texture, and played around with the blending mode and the opacity until I was happy with the texture shinning through the top layer.
I was pleased with the final piece and thought let’s add a bit of daily affirmation: ‘believe in your dreams.’
This was great fun give it a try. Enjoy!

Stay well my friend and have a sunny blessed weekend!
There is something magical in the beauty of weathered dwellings that still stand tall. Broken window frames the thread of drapes, doorways are boarded up underneath sagging rooftops. Abandoned, basking in remote golden grassland areas, though utterly creepy in character they inspire intrigue full of mystery of the unknown spirits who once were occupants.
