Yesterdays long over due rain shower left this gorgeous deep red daylily for me this morning.It’s such a beautiful deep ruby red color peeking up to the sun standing tall and proud next to two yellow daylilies. I’m hoping the other two on the same stem bloom within the next couple of days those should be red as well. The other I’m not sure of the color yet but I’m, sure it will be just as pretty.
A neighbor had given me the bulbs last fall when he was separating bulbs from his own garden, so the colors have all been a pleasant surprise until they actually bloom. Last week a few yellow blossomed. Sadly, they fade away only after a day. Apparently that is the where/why the name Daylily.
Next year I’ll clip them and bring them in the house to enjoy if only for the day!

Planted next to the Daylily are 3’ tall yellow flowers {heliopsis hellanthlodes venus} resembling miniature sunflowers attracting a group of small colored butterflies that blend right in with the color of the flower. I’m hoping a few Hummingbirds stop by as well!
