Our backyard friends are enjoying this glorious sunny morning in their secluded retreat, hanging under a spray of Cherry blooms. Swinging in the breeze, while peeking their little heads out warbling a chirpy good morning. This has got to be a true sign that spring has finally arrived!

A few weeks ago we experienced rain seemed to last for a good week or two straight, it was a cold rain really nasty. No color to brighten the day just plain yuck. This colorful ladybug caught my eye when she flew on my desk one night. I’m not fond of bugs especially in my house roaming around, but ladybugs are so delicately small and graceful, cute little things. So I just let them be.
I’ve always heard ladybugs in the house bring good luck and I could really use a little about now, so I just let her be, wandering around my desk, trying not to crush her in the chaos. She’d walk off the desk and I’d gently pick her up and put her back on the desk, eventually she flew off only to return again over the next couple of nights. Little Lady and I became close; BFF.

The architect thought I was suffering from some kind of seasonal affective disorder, talking with a ladybug, because you know people just don’t do that sort of thing. So you can imagine my overwhelming shock when I found her floating in my glass of wine. “Oh no, Little Lady,” I shouted placing her on a napkin to dry. When I got up the next morning Little Lady was still on the napkin. I gave her a nudge she didn’t move, and another nudge, when she began to awaken from her drunken stupor. Sloooowly creeping along, Little Lady was hung over and I could feel her pain. There was a glimmer of hope that maybe she’d survive. Nope, not gonna happen. When evening came around Little Lady sadly passed on.
Cause of death: alcohol poisoning.
What a good luck charm she was!
Have a great weekend and stay well my friend.

We’ve had rain for at least three weeks now with very few days of sun in between. The basement sump pump has been running a continual buzz through out this time, and it has been full-out desolation. Making it worse living on a dirt road full of huge gullies. When it rains each house has their mud hole. The potholes lining the road make for great speed bumps often-discouraging folks from coming down the road. It can be a pretty scary ride if you’re not familiar with the area.
After the rain… ooooh! There’s a promise of perfect bliss, warm temp sunny days, and heart shaped puddles.

Happy Easter to you all!
