Working The Left Brain

Concealed eyes hedged in black mask

Above, soaring red-feathered wings glow bright.

Red pointed crest crown of honor.

Dance in the birdbath searching

Insects, seedlings, berries for his

Nesting loves feed.

A bright red blaze, a flash, a flare,

Limb to limb the scarlet songbird sings.

Acrostic Poem: the first letter of each line read vertically is the subject.
Cardinal… but you already knew that. Give it a try it’s a fun challenge!

Have a fun, productive creative week.

Stay well my friend.

Who Let the Artist Out

Comments Off

I haven’t had my art supplies out in so long that I can’t remember. This past week I painted myself in lush oil pastels, smooth acrylic paints, buttons & beads, and scrap booking papers, a wild brew of photographs letting the Artist out to begin 2010.

Here is a tutorial that will surely get your creative juices flowing. Being a photographer I had to give it a try, and I’m just loving such a creative process. A big thank you to:

Stay well my friend and enjoy!

My Resolve for 2010

Comments Off

The past 5 years have not been so good to me. I’ve mourned the death of a sister, my father and brother all in a 3 year period. On the fourth year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’ve had a few years of depression during the intermit of this crazy time. I completely withdrew away from all my art, my painting, photography, and my writing. So I’ve decided that this years resolve won’t be about dieting, exercise, and all that boring stuff that we are all aware of. This year will be about ME FINDING MY WAY BACK to where I once was.

I’ve had this soft as silk covered journal sitting on my desk for oh maybe 3 or 4 years now just waiting to put it to use. The pages are so clean and crisp so I let it sit until the right moment, well the moment is now 2010. A time for healing, time to take control of my world day by day. I took this fresh beauty out and added a few embellishments. A butterfly adhesively applied to the cover flying freely and on first inside page I wrote the date along with my name, business card, and the name of my web site with a few more embellishments. Leaving the first 3 pages clean and crisp. On the fourth page I added a photograph a bit of writing to go along side. My plan is to add a new photo and write everyday.

Today I think the above graphic will be scripted to the first page. The beginning of  my 2010 journey.

My cinquain for 2010:

Motivation
stimulating, moving
creatively, expanding, becoming
soothing the soul within
determination

A Blessed Weekend

Comments Off

I can’t think of a better way to start the New Year, peacefully and blessed weathering out a snow storm. With the lingering aroma of a big pot of chowder simmering on the stove, and cuddled up in this gorgeous handmade afghan that I received as a Christmas gift from my sister Wanda from out in Arizona.

Reading a great book that was a gift to myself, “Eat Pray love,” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Yes a few good words to live by in 2010.

I hope you all are having a blessed weekend as well.

Happy New Year!

Pines in the December Sky

Comments Off

As the blinding cloud of fog lifted through the tall pines, the early
evening sky blazed. A collage of blue and glossy orange dazzle the sky.
Like cerulean waters and golden sands.

The tall pines woody fruit cone hung still, as a wind chime without sound.
Silent like a lonely star in the sky. A fall to winters cold death.
Setting free seed beneath the crisp heap of needles below.
